Evergreen or deciduous shrubs and trees, native mainly to eastern Asia, Europe and North Africa.

Botanical description

Habitus: Shrubs up to 3-5 m tall. 

Leaf: Leaves elliptic, entire-edged, oppositely arranged, green or variegated. Dark green above, blue-green below. 

Flower: White-yellow flowers in erect, bracteate inflorescences. Blooms in June, produces profusely. 

Fruit: Black berries which remain on the plant for a long time.

Growth conditions / Cultivation / Care

An undemanding plant with beautiful foliage that tolerates pruning very well. They tolerate shady and semi-shady positions.
