Habitat / Home / Areal

Hydrangeas are native to East Asia, North and South America.

Botanical description

Habitus: Medium-sized deciduous shrub that buds. Reaches 3-5 m in height/width. It is a climber, which climbs (leans) on a support. Shoots woody, with a prominent bud at the end, light green in colour. The mode of branching is variable. 

Leaf: Heart-shaped ovate leaf, light green with a serrate leaf margin.

Flower: Clustered white inflorescence. Flowers from June to September.

Growth conditions / Cultivation / Care

The soil should be well drained and fertile. They need pruning every year, this helps to regulate the number of flowers and their size. Prune and clean them in early spring (March-April).
