Habitat / Home / Areal

Shrubs and small trees, native to Europe, North Africa and Asia, on the slopes of the Himalayas, in China and Siberia.

Botanical description

Habitus: low shrub. Branches fan out. About 50 cm tall.

Leaf: Round, short-tipped, dark green, lighter in front, red and orange in autumn.  

Flower: Flowers are small, numerous, white, slightly pinkish

Fruit: Fruits come in a variety of shades of red, with rare exceptions of black, many species retaining fruit until the following spring.

Growth conditions / Cultivation / Care

They do well in any humic soil, but generally like a dry rather than a moist site. They produce abundantly in full sun.
