European conifer, grows to 25 – 30 m, it is disjunctive

Botanical description

Habitus:  In youth it has conic crown and later branches extend into width

Its bark is smooth, yellow-brown, later it splits into bark, it has thin brownish-yellow shoots, they are smooth on the surface, the buds have an egg-round shape

Flower & Fruit:  it has small upright brown cones, the cones are approximately 1.2 to 3.5 cm long, the cones remain on the tree even through the winter, the female cones are purple-red at first, the male flowers are small and yellow, the seeds are 3 to 4 mm long and shiny, light brown and they have wings.

Growth conditions / Cultivation / Care

It grows at altitudes of 1200 to 1600 m.a.s.l., light-loving, has moderate requirements for soil and air humidity
