Native to South Korea.

Botanical description

Habitus: Height ranges from 7-15 m. It has a dense conical canopy; the bark is grey and smooth, thick and fissured into plates with age. 

Leaf: Needles are dense, glossy green above, white streaks below; cones are erect.

Flower: Flowers monoecious.

Fruit: Cone small and cylindrical, at first purple-blue, later brown.
