Habitat / Home / Areal

It comes from North America. They are fast-growing, alpine and evergreen conifers, they grow to a height of 30-60 m, they grow at altitudes of 600 – 3400m. They are adapted to the climatic conditions. The bark is light gray to red, rough, irregularly cracked. Undemanding to soil and moisture.

Botanical description

Habitus: the crown is conical with a flat top 

Leaf: needles are 1.5-6 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, grey-green blue-silver from the top, inconspicuously long, partially curved, they remain on the tree for 4-6 years. Buds are 3-5×2-3 mm oblong to egg-shaped

Fruit: male cones are red-purple-green, female cones are cylindrical or oval, 7-12 cm long and 3-4.5 cm wide, with a round top, yellow-green at first and turn brown as they mature, and the cones taper towards both ends. Cones ripen in October
